help.
Hey, I replaced the trans in my friends g20. I just got the axles in and went to bolt the ball joints and tie rods back to the spindle. The nuts for both of these are just spinning with the ball joint/tie rod. What is the trick to get these on?

Use a little WD-40 or penetrating oil and use an impact. Press down as hard as you can on the tie rod and spindle when tightening so that they dont spin.

Use a jack to press up on the ball joints.
The tie rod ends maybe use a C clamp on...

for the ball joint: you need vice grips to put around the rubber boot itself as you are tightening the nut

for future reference, you do not need to remove the ball joints to change a tranny in a G20, it takes too long and using the 22MM wrench to get that nut of is a pain

next time you can remove both shock bolts (the long 17mm bolts with the 17mm nuts, the bracke caliper and take the tie rod nut out and the pull down on the shock tower

or you can remove the nut that connects the shock mount to the knuckle assembly (it's under the black metal cap, use a hammer and a flat head screw driver to pry it off)...if you remove that nut, the nut from the tie rod end and the brake caliper you would be able to pull the axle out also w/o having to remove the ball joints

Yah, on a B13 you don't have to remove the brakes or any ball joints. All you need to do is unhook the shock from the steering knuckle and you can squeeze the axle out of there.

I realized that later. Doh. First time working on a g20, I noticed the suspension was different but I just went at it. I will try these tricks today thanks.

The jack worked on the ball joint. On the tie rod end I used a c clap. It was kind of a pain in the butt, but once I got the clap on there right it was all good. Thanks guys.
