Thread: Help with 11" FastBrakes kit B13

Is there anybody that has this kit and has experience with them. I just finished and took the car out for test drive. I broke in the rotors as recommended and the brake pads sound like there still resting on the rotors (like the cailpers are stuck both sides "really noisy/and loud"). Is this normal? Any help would be appreciated!!

I have the 11.75" kit, but the 1st thing that comes to my mind is bleeding the system. Your calipers (if Wilwoods) should have 2 nipples, and you should have used the nipple on the top.

Which pads are you running (compound)? Could be an aggressive compound that is noisy.

What type of rotors are you running? Slotted, drilled, blank?

Are you hearing a crunching sound when applying the brakes?

What noise exactly are you worried about?

Does the car feel like it is braking, or just sounds like it?

The kit makes a lot of noises the stock brakes don't. Most of them are normal and don't signify a problem.

To Fosters:
1. Yes only used tops nipples (per instructions) and have rebled the system.

2. Not sure what compound it is? This is what is on the box "150-8850K Smart Pads 7112 10,DL,BLK 49 THK" not sure if this helps?

2. The really LOUD noise/'s! When I'm driving I have to act like the headless sentraman. Because everyone is looking at you! I could'nt sneak up on a deaf person with the noise that comes from the brakes (for some reason I can't except that this is normal. I go to the local country club "rich people" track and watch many cars (track use only) exiting off the trailer or private garages. They may make some little sounds, but nothing like mine?)

i bet you if u take a look at the rear of your disc, you'll have a big worn out groove in it. I found when I used this kit that the caliper bolts were too long and ended up rubbing the disc. I backed out the caliper bolts, shaved off a few mm's off the end and voila that fixed it. Else it might be the dust shield rubbing the disc if its bent out of shape.

nickr has a very good point, I forgot about the bolt length. The kit comes with (used to?) washers so you can space that bolt out so it won't rub on the rotor. You could have that going on.

I meant, when it's making the noise, does it seem to be applying the brakes somewhat?


Slotted rotors will make a swish swish swish sound, but not like what you're describing.

Check that caliper/dog bone mounting bolt and see what's up.


Other thing could be a failing hub, but that wouldn't go bad between brake changes.

I had to remove my pad retaining clips or they would squeel. Do this and the sound will go away.
