Thread: Pillow Ball Mounts for B13 with Octotat RSTB

Hey Chuck, do you think you can fabricate some pillow ball mounts for a B13 with your RSTB and OE size springs? I have hypercoils and CSK's.....

i think i might have done some offset ones

put me on the list to buy a pair....

Mean they offset the strut so you can run a wider tire without it rubbing on the rear struts. This is not to take away from Chuck but here is a link just to educate you on what these do.

Overkill needs me to send them my already installed RSTB to make pillow ball mounts for me... so I won't be using them anyway. Both make a great product, but it'll be much easier for chuck to make something that fits his own bar.

i have just the mounts, alone they will give more neg camber

i think they are a little more elegant, they use a circlip to hold in the spherical bearing

Are you implying the strut ears are needed to install these or can they be installed without the strut ears?

yes they are intended to be used without modifications to the strut ears

i see what oem is doing and how that would allow wider tires, i'm not sure what performance benifits are achived out back though.

i built these as pretty much a track only type part, they increase the neg camber 1-2*. more neg camber is a performance upgrade allowing better traction and tracking in corners.

you could use oem's product without the ears and achive the same.

when you say you just have the mounts, and I'd need to get my own strut ears, I don't have any clue what you are talking about. can you post a pic?

i have just read that to increase stability after I put on a progress rear sway bar and your strut tower brace that I'll want to dial in some negative camber, even on the street/highway if I'm cornering somewhere above posted speeds..

Another benefit of pillow ball mounts, so i've heard, is that they allow you to mount the strut a little higher than stock, which allows for more suspension travel on a lowered car. I think that's what this guy was saying.. any truth to that? My rear koni's are not shortened, only my fronts. So this would come in handy.
