Racing the S13: 2013 Bible Creek Hillclimb
Well, I have officially competed in my very first sanctioned hillclimb event! Definitely still have a lot to learn, but it was a blast! I even took top time for my class (SM)... but there was only one other car, and I only beat him by .1 seconds! Ha ha. I definitely could have stayed in the gas more often and braked later, but I was a little nervous, ha ha. If anyone has any tips, I'm very open to suggestions! I want to improve the best that I can.

Here's the video:

Looked good! Everyone has their own steering styles but I'd suggest keeping your hands at 9 and 3, and not shuffling. While you still have the center mark on the steering wheel, I feel that it's more intuitive and less confusing to correct an oversteer situation when the position of your hands have stayed in the same location on the steering wheel. However, I'm all for using your own developed style, so if it works better for you to shuffle then keep doing that... just realize there may be limitations in that method further down the road. Remember to keep throttle movements smooth as well.

I might add as well that one of the best ways you can improve your speed is to brake later and harder - good pads are a must. Take it small steps at a time though

Yeah, the shuffling I picked up with autocross, trying to ween myself of it, lol. And I totally agree with braking hard and late, working on that as well. With the new brake setup, I should be able to be pretty aggressive, but I just haven't built a familiarity with them yet.

Get some seat brackets or extended sliders to give you more leg room. It must be hell to rev match or left foot brake. Nice run by the way.

Yeah, it's a tight fit. I'm working on the seat issue. Bought a Racetech seat for big guys and having trouble getting it to fit in the car. I hate being tall and "not thin", ha ha
