Help me identify this knock or slap
Hey all, swapped in a 'new' motor after grenading the last one. This one seems to be making a bit of a noise. Not sure if it's a chain slap or something far more serious. Please help me identify:

We got an endurance race coming up next weekend, so I'm thinking this is something I should be worried about.

Put the DE you got from me in . it runs better unless damaged in transport

You could remove the unnecessary upper chain guide, but it sounds like it could be something worse than that..

Yeah, it totally sounds like a tractor. It idles. Interesting thing is that once it warms up, and I'm running it at around 2k to 3k rpms or so, the sound will actually go away. Then you shut the car off, start it back up and there it is. More pronounced at lower RPMs.

Swap out the chain tensioner see if that helps

Pull the plugs one at a time and see if it affects the sound. If it can be isolated to one cylinder, the it is likely a rod bearing issue. To me it sounds like valve train related. Like someone posted before, try replacing the tensioner.
