Take a magnet to it. Most SS headers will not be magnetic.

There are plenty of SS that is magnetic. But the SS used in headers/manifolds is usually not magnetic.

interesting... i might try to use the heat factory heat shield and see how that effects the performance and then move from there unless something amazing happens between now and then

From what I remember the white lightning stuff isn't that expensive. I think I saw something saying most 4 cyl headers could be done for less than $200. If I ever pull my car apart for a lengthy amount of time I'll check back into it myself.

I gotta say, for the price, I'm a big fan of stove paint + header wrap. I do like stock or well made heat shields too. If I had lots of money to spend I'd probably go with Swain coating (inside and out) and good-looking heat shielding. Maybe some corrugated inconel stuff or whatever.

Ben, I was thinking that as well.. coating both inside and out and then rig the stock heat shield for added heat shielding... best terms i could think of lol

I may just get the car up and running... then after I know it runs good i will pull the headers off and send it off but right now I have a dead line... i dont mind waiting till after saint patricks day.
