Straight pipe on DE?
hello everyone!,

just wondering if it's okay to do a straight pipe on a DE. i'm planning to change my current pipe which is 2" and have custom 4-1 headers.. though it a power on mid -high end but i'm planning to up for 2 1/4 straight?

thanks

Run a 2.5 and get a good can in the rear, if your going to pay for a custom header why short your self on the exhaust?

Just to be warned, it will be loud. I am running a 2 1/4 straight from manifold to a can...its loud, but I'm running the 1.6 but will be running a de soon

I have 2 1/4 with a magnaflow resonator coming out the side and it does get quite loud after 4k.

I have a 2 1/2 inch pipe, crush bent with an SSAutochrom header, going to a 3" dynomax high flow silencer at the back and it is nice while on low revs, but get past 3K and it sucks.
The past weekend I got on a One and a Half hour drive to the beach where I never went lower than 3K rpm, and by the time I got home my ears hurt and my head hurt a bit too.
So if it is for a DD, that is not a good idea...

Performance wise it flows good but for DD on anything past 3K sucks

I previously had a SSAC with a magnaflow glasspack side exit 2.5 inch. Even at idle it was too loud. You couldn't hear anything, but exhaust. I just had my VRS kit, and vibrant installed yesterday. Sounds great.

Exactly. I did the same after I welded mine together. Ended up chopping out a section for a resonator. Sounds nice now, and no drone anymore with the resonator and muffler.

Straight pipe was fun for the week I had it but damn was it asking for trouble. I've been around SCCA GT cars that are quieter.

Not worth it on a basic DE build probably see like 1-2hp difference over a nice Greddy or old HKS setup which sounds way cleaner. It will not sound that good.
