It's a not a simple breakdown of what you need to be qualified. It's highly dependent on your instructor input/review, your ability, your progression in addition to a multitude of other factors and it doesn't just happen over one event (atleast not in the SCCA sanctioned events I have been to). This especially applies if you have ZERO track experience.

This applies to any official HPDE/PDX/Performance sanctioned driving event. The convention however, I personally cannot comment on (that is for Madtec to do as he is going through all the proper channels and will have more information on the Convention and how the event will eb ran).

Pretty much. I actually prefer tougher vetting of drivers at DE's. I feel a little safer knowing the guy next to me is going to do anything stupid, due to inexperience.

Damn, another dB level cap.

Poor, poor VE, N/A bastards. I flipping love the glorious roar from the engines but we must respect the dB levels.

*** If you folks are concerned, please look into the turbo-style mufflers, They barely impede air flow and they do a lot more noise reduction by cross channel frequency cancelling and modifying. ***

106 DB is LOUD in my opinion! The only cars I have seen have issues making limit, are those NA rotories. Even the big bore GT1 cars with thier open headers (essentially Trans AM/Nascar vehicles with around 7-800 HP, wings, plastic bodies, tube frame, Jerico gearbox beasts) are capable of meeting the limit with a few DB to spare. A parltry ol VE making barely 1/3 the power should have no excuse

I really hope the N/A VE's don't break the limit. They were pretty much off the track at AMP... we were shoving those goofball tailpipe "dB reducers" into DE cars at AMP with the 98 dB limit at that track.

What would really be cool is if the East Coast 510 Meet at Summit Point (otherwise known as SPEC Summit Point East Coast) every year could take place at the sametime. We meet every May weekend of the Jefferson 500 typically around the 16th. Anywhere from 18-25 510s show up and we camp out at the track and do the party thing with pallet camp fires and such.
