PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THE TRACK EVENT.

Please read the very first post of this thread. Info. also rehashed in post #25.

Summit Point runs a program named FATT (Friday At The Track). FATT is similar to NASA's HPDE and SCCA's PDX formats of hi-perf. untimed lapping. FATT uses two classes, tracked separately based upon driver skill/exp. Instructors will be assigned to the less experienced class of drivers.
The 2015 SR20 Convention attendees will need to register for FATT directly with Summit Point. The FATT website is: Friday at the Track | Summit Point Motorsports Park
I doubt FATT/Summit Point has opened registration for the June 19 FATT, so we'll need to wait some time to register.

EDIT: I restated a portion of my description for FATT.

Got some bad news fellers, the race track event may not happen now

That date is an SCCA race weekend and there is practice that day. This means the pool for instructors is very low as most would be racing and practicing. We cannot piggy back on Friday because it is for licensed drivers only, also we cannot switch any other day because of the BSR events

I am so bummed about this.......

WTF?!?!!??! How in the world did they botch the schedule this terribly? Unless an event got added or there were changes to the Calender, I cannot see how this conflict was missed_!

This is a real disaster and that was a good portion of why I wanted to make the event......

Well this sucks a butt.....

I know this is unforeseen and not merited nor wanted, but why the eff does this have to happen? I am simply frustrated at the series of unfortunate events this car community has to go through to get some scrappy cars on a road course. People wonder why amateur racing is dead in this country and this is more disheartening truth to digest.

I have posted before that a lack of an event will never stop me from attending but it certainly bums me out whenever an event is messed with.

That's unfortunate, but IDC because it's about the people, not so much the racing. So lets move on and DO THIS!

Yeah man, I was communicating with Chris way back in Sept requesting to be added to the schedule. He penciled us in and I went and there in Oct and met him in person and we went thru the schedule. He said about the new track and that BSR will be moving so the FATT event can happen on Friday but to remind him at the first of the year.

There is an option that we can rent out the track BUT......

- The club will have to be Incorporated or LLC. No individual can rent the track
- The cost to rent the track would be $8-9K plus insurance
- We would need to provide instructors depending on how many racers

This is a stressful and expensive option as monies will have to be collected up front from a committed amount of racers, plus refunds would not be an option

That was the best thing about piggy backing on a FATT event, the rental and insurance would be covered by the track. So we just show up and go

I'm not happy about this at all.

Seems like there was some type of mis communication with Chris at Summit point. It makes no sense that there instructors are too busy "practicing" for a race that's on the following day. Doesn't this track want our money? Some type of compromise needs to be made. I'm still a bit cloudy regarding all the details but I'm going to try and contact Chris to see if we can come to an agreement on making this road course day happen. It really bothers me that this is the 2nd year in a row that we are having track issues. I put to much time and effort into these conventions for this to continue.

Plan B may be for us to rent out the track (roughly $10,000), and if that's the case I expect everyone to pony up and send in there payments in a timely fashion so we can make this happen, other wise I don't want to hear any complaining about not having a track day. (not sure if this is even an option but you never know)

Plan C, we don't have a roadcourse day and make the best of it. At this point, I feel is more about the people then these cars. I hope this unfortunate circumstance doesn't detour from individuals attending. I'll do my best to straighten this situation out though it may be already to late to so. Keep in mind we still have the karting day which was a success last year.

Any ideas welcomed, let's work as a team to figure out the next step.

Typically, a a MARRS or similar race event is an entire weekend and people begin to show up on Thursday, so yes, the drivers will be busy almost the entirety of the weekend, so there is alot of truth in that Ralphy.

I will be down pony up some money, but I can almost promise you, this community will not do that.......Too many people would prefer to run down the strip vs actually doing trackdays and most people are simply not willing to pony up the funds. Also, since no one is willing to pony up, it will be tough tying down an actual fee since it will vary based on the level of participation

Either way, I am down for track days and willing to pony up. The only other cheap option is to pony off the back of another trackday group. 95% of the time, if there is an event at Summit Main, there are also events at Shenandoah and Jefferson at the same time!
