and WHY is my head so big? it doesn't appear big but it is when you really look at it. when I was a kid I had golden blond hair, and they called me "the golden nugget" - this is totally true. it was like an orange on a toothpick. ever see that movie "So I Married an Axe Murderer" ? the scene where Mike Myer's dad is like "that kid's head is huge! It has it's own weather system! The Earth revolves around THAT, not the Sun!"

haha. I asked a doctor once and he said it's prob a combination of an overly large brain with an overly large skull that grew around it to contain it. seriously though if you saw me in a store you wouldn't be like "why's that guys' head so big??" but that fact that i'm 5'8" and need an XL is a bit odd. lololol

Here's a photo I took of her wearing it. It's was a Large, so it was a bit loose on her but a tad tight on me. XL for me should do it.

She would be riding shotgun as she's never been on a road course before (similar to probably 99.9 percent of women) but she does have Lexus IS250 6-speed which she drives pretty well.

you should sign her up and let her do some sessions with an instructor.... the driving skills she's acquire are invaluable

Storm88000, if you really want her to get hooked I agree she needs to drive. Being a passenger suuuuuuucks most of the time.

As unijab mentioned, "parade" laps (helmets not required, speeds limited to ~60 MPH, tops down if you want, and a pace car in front) during lunch are a great place for her to start if you're lucky enough to run with a group that does them.

As for her helmet, just rent one or borrow someone else's helmet. You don't need to buy a helmet for her just for one day. Arrange it with someone in a different run group or someone who brings extra. For Katie's first 4 track days she borrowed a helmet from a friend of ours. Only this year have I gotten her a helmet because obviously after that many borrows, she could use her own. I got her a $25 open face SA2005 unit from G-Force from their clearance mentioned previously in this thread and the helmet thread. The cheapest "medium" helmet was $70 I think?

The problem is, unless she takes her 2010 Subaru Impreza (base model automatic) she'd never be able to drive the B13. With the CMFX500 6-puck and the Fidanza flywheel, she would stall it 10/10 times I'd imagine, and if she did get it going maybe break the transmission or miss a shift and f up the engine. She had no idea how to drive competitively. Not that she would, she's a female and average interests are her Chihuahua's and decorating the house, gardening etc.

It would be cool if she could, but she could barely drive the car when I had a stock clutch in it.

In addition to "things/bodies" coming through the windshield, as the above video illustrates...there's also the side windows to think about. Unlike drag racing, the side windows are required to be down at most tracks. One trip through the gravel trap at speed, will convince you a full face is a good idea. Some of those pebbles will be coming at you like they came out of a shotgun. Don't ask me how I know this...

All of that, and fire. I'm also guilty of not putting mine down when I drive.
