Thread: Nelson Ledges Track Day Payment Thread

So we can use motorcycle helmets @ Nelson right?

I found an XXL last night at Walmart for $50, face shield ones are $80. They are M2005. Good enough? I want to get a real good one eventually (my 2 previous ones the foam is out, and one is cracked) but I want one for my g/f to ride shotgun and she will prob never use it again

M2005 (thanks Chris) and newer motorcycle helmets were allowed two years ago at Nelson Ledges, and Rob has ultimately communicated that they will be allowed again this year.

Truthfully, and I hate to say this, Nelson Ledges would probably let us run with three wheels and a block of flint for the fourth and not even notice.

That's not to say that we shouldn't hold ourselves to a higher standard and make sure everything is safe and Kosher. Part of the reason we get to do what we get to do is because our group is professional, courteous, safety-minded, and above board. We want to keep up our reputation. We want to continue to be invited back with open arms at the tracks we visit.

Motorcycle helmets are M20xx
Automobile helmets are SA20xx

Benjamin, as your own private moderator (j/k lol) I agree. I just don't want to spend $200 on a helmet for my g/f (she has a regular size head so it's not like I could use it too) for 1 time on the track, I am kinda forcing her to go with me so she can finally see what all the fuss is about, why I am up to 8am working on the car etc. hopefully it will turn her to see the light

Well I made her come with me to Walmart to look at the helmets. The full face helmet in this photo is $74, but yeah it's a motorcycle helmet..

Here's a photo I took of her wearing it. It's was a Large, so it was a bit loose on her but a tad tight on me. XL for me should do it.

She would be riding shotgun as she's never been on a road course before (similar to probably 99.9 percent of women) but she does have Lexus IS250 6-speed which she drives pretty well.

cute pic...but man you should consider a real helmet . Why not get a sa2010 and have a safer noggin?
I got my helmet for like 149 a couple years ago....I have used it 4 times and to me that was worth it. Its a sa2005 so I will probably get a new one soon.I figure I will spend like 200 for a new one and get 5 years out of it.
Not rrying to give you a hard time,I just think you should consider something a little better...You can use it as motivation to do more track days

Ohhh for me I am going to get a SA2010 helmet, but since she will likely never need a helmet again it would be a waste to shell out $160+ unless I could use it too (which I can't b/c my head is too big)
