Get a dB meter and a friend.

Stand 50 feet away from your muffler.

Have your friend rev the car to highest RPM.

Look at dB meter reading.

I pulled up a smartphone app... 99dB in the car full throttle in neutral. 102dB in the car under load...

I'm wondering if it can even read it.. The car is exponentially louder under load..

Of course the 50 feet might make a huge difference. I probably should get rid of the megaphone but it just looks right..

I have a sound level meter. I need to dig it out and will have my car tested on the dyno after tuning.

Awesome, thanks! I installed 2 so I will be able to get an average.

1 more,

When they test this, where do they stand? My "muffler" isn't at the back of the car... (great is they test it 50 feet behind the car for me tho)

According to the website, they have *Seven* DB meters that are moved around various points during the day.

If you go 50' from your car and face the exhaust I would think would be your loudest reading, which is what you should be trying to measure

I really dont think our cars have to worry about this unless your open header NA, turbo cars are not that loud, regardless if open downpipe.
