Here we go again!!

After the outstanding job done by Rob, Louie, and the rest of this year's team we look to take it up yet another notch for 2013. We are changing the convention format slightly regarding days of the week. In 2013 we are going to have our road course day on Thursday, the drag day on Friday, and the picnic/car show on Saturday. Several reasons, but the number one was cost and availability. By taking a Thursday we are able to get a much nicer road course at an off prime price. Also, Friday was already setup as a test and tune at the 1/4 mile drag strip so everything fit together better. This also allows for travel back home for everyone on the weekend making traffic less of an issue at the end of a long weekend.

Initial schedule:

Wednesday June 5th
Travel day and informal gathering at Comfort Suites in Suwanee, Ga. Full details on the hotel in post 2 below. We will likely plan a meet and greet, those details to be added later. Figure on 8ish pm time frame for now. The hotel is 37 miles from the road course, 39 miles from the drag strip, and 32 miles to downtown Atlanta.

Thursday June 6th
We will be having our track day at Atlanta Motorsports Park

Track opens at 7 am and closes at 7 pm, we will be on track from 9 am to 5 pm with a 1 hour lunch break. Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced run groups. No gate charge so spectating is free. Come a grab a ride if you can!!!
BTW, they also have a carting track and rentals are available from 3 pm - 6 pm at $20 for 10 minutes if you need something to fill your down time.
Special note: AMP has a strict 98 db at 50 feet code that they must comply with or face a $1000 fine. No exceptions to this as we pay the fine if busted. They have meters and will check, you get 1 warning and can attempt to quiet your car. 2 strikes and you are off teh course.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
Our challenge for this event is the track rental, which at $9000 all inclusive is substantial given we had no money to start with. The track management is working with us to split the cost up into 3 payments so that we can manage our finances. Thanks to those who already stepped up, we made our down payment and signed our contract. June 6th has now been secured. We have a second payment due first week of March 2013 and final payment due on June 1st. Those of us who do track days know we usually pay upwards of $250 for a day running with strangers. Our early bird offer is our attempt at keeping anyone (especially me) from having to go into their pockets to front this entire deposit. In talking with other organizers, our goal moving forward is to keep this a SR20 community event if there is any way possible. With that in mind, the early bird offer is going to be extended to February 28th.
$199 per person available until February 28, 2013!
We are going to cap run groups at 22. With 3 run groups each driver would have five (5) 20 minute sessions with 30 minutes of open track to end the day. We are looking at stopping at 60 total entries at this time, but do not want to exclude anyone. If we can sell all spots at $199 within the community it will be a great thing. If 50 entries are not received by April 1st, we open it up to the public at $225.

I am ready to put my money where my mouth is and have $400 to pay for my spot and an extra spot today.

Doing my best to make this work for everyone. I found a home for us less than 40 miles to all of our venues and only 30 miles to downtown Atlanta.

We will be staying at the Comfort Suites in Suwanee, GA (full address below). We have secured a rate of $79.99 (+ taxes) for a king or double suite. In addition there are three king suites available with a Jacuzzi tub for a $30 premium. All rooms come with a pull out single sleeper loveseat, desk, flat screen tv, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. We are also provided with complimentary hot breakfast and complimentary wifi. Reservations are open now, and thru April 30, 2013 you can make a reservation at the stated group rate. Mention SR20 National Convention when you call in, our rates will be valid for Wednesday June 5th thru Saturday June 8th (checking out Sunday). Reserve only the nights you want, you are not required to take a 4 night stay. They are going to provide meeting room space complimentary for one day. We can have the meeting room for additional days if we want it at a modest cost. We will have the block drop off a month before arrival so that we will not be responsible for non pickup. Which means if you don't make a reservation prior to April 30th you will be current regular room rate which is between $99 and $119 depending on season. Our goal would be to get all 65 rooms, if we did that there is no one to whine about our noise level. Something to think about, so spread the word kids.
