Some guys will need more than 8k in order to keep up with the more simple setups.

Preloading is your friend and ive become quite good at a very hard preload and a nice quick spring off the line without just dumping the clutch. Last time out I pulled a 1.61 60ft still bogging a bit and still had 8psi in the slicks. Im sure low to mid 1.5's are doable without breaking the stock spec axles.

I was using the stock spec axles with stock b13 outer CV's last time out but im switching out the hubs and axles for the later model ones that have the larger spline and shaft all the way through just for that extra security.

Mine have the larger spline all the way through

Yeah apparently its only the 02 5 speed se-r and possibly 02 spec v axles that use the same outer joint spline as the b13 axles. So far they have held up but im going with the larger just to be sure.

The driver side axle doesnt matter what year you get it from, it has the same sub shaft splines as the b13 so you can swap inner or outer joints but that isnt the main drive axle so no worries about breaking the driver side axle.

I agree that N/A sounds good but after a while I can't take the noise. We use to have Datsun 510s with fully built motors and sidedraft carbs, now that was a beautiful sound. Now it's the sound and feel of a turbo that puts a smile on my face but to each is own.

There's a reason why most of the fastest imports have a turbo bolted on them.

Yes I do have a feeling after this convention a lot more people will make the jump to the big vvl motors. After seeing how well they really do perform and how they sound : )
