Two mistakes

One - hit the chute after he crossed the line and was already braking

Two - continuted to hit the brakes after going sideways instead of hitting the gas to straighten himself out. Had he hit the gas instead, he wouldnt have wrecked.

Even just a blip of the gas would have corrected the car but instead he kept trying to counter steer on a drifting fwd car, lol. Not gonna work.

Granny shiftin' not double clutchin' like you should

I think it easy to say "the guy can't drive" when one has never been that fast. That fucking car was flying. He didn't have time to think shit.

Unfortunately I was granny shifting last time out because I was still trying to get the car to stick and get off the line quick, no sense in going full out on a run that I bogged off the line badly. Too bad I ran into other issues just as I was about dialed in.

Not this time though. No more messing around. I know exactly how Im going to set up the car from the very beginning and should do well.

Your right, none of us can say we wouldnt have ended up the same way if that was us. Just stating obvious facts, as I have gotten a fwd car sideways at high speeds and braking is the last thing you want to do. But I will say he screwed up on the chute part. Everyone that watched the vid said the same thing.

Its one thing to run fast but if you cant finish out the run without crashing, what good is it. lol

I got to drive my Uncles Datsun (now belongs to my cousin) at Orlando Speedworld and I ran a 9.6 at 141 and I will say it is one crazy ass ride and I will say that stopping was the hardest part. So the fact that this car dipped into the 8's will only make it that much harder espeially on a slick.

I think this would have happened to anyone regardless the driver.

Many fwd guys have ran 8's and pulled the chute and not crashed. The reason he crashed was because of driver error. Even the guy driving admitted he screwed up.

You dont pull the chute after your already braking unless its an emergency, and even then you gotta gas it a bit to get it to deploy properly and when going sideways gasing it a bit would have straightened the car right out especially with the chute deployed. Again he made several mistakes that cost him. But again, non of us have been that fast in a fwd car so again whos to say we wouldnt have made the same mistakes. We just done know. Just saying mistakes were made.

There could have been many variables in the situation. Regardless it sucks.

Hey Rob, can you find out the total length of Thompson Raceway dragstrip. I looked online and couldnt find any info on the braking distance of the track and turnoff points and so on.

The tracks in phoenix are as such.

Firebird Raceway: 1/4 strip, 3/4 mile total, 1st turnoff at 1/4 mile after finish, 2nd at 3/8 mile after finish and last turnoff at the end 1/2 mile after finish

Speedworld Dragstrip: 1/4 strip, 3/4 mile total, 1st turnoff at 3/8 mile after finish, last turnoff at 1/2 mile after finish.

Both of those tracks have plenty of braking distance. If i can hit the 1st turnoff at speedworld trapping 137 and thats comfortably braking not even hitting the brakes hard at all, no reason anyone else trapping 130+ shouldnt be able to stop.

Ashton once I get ahold of someone I will. With the tracks being closed for the season it is difficult. If I speak with someone I will ask.

Right now we have 3 options hence why I am not worried.

Summit Raceway (Norwalk)
Thompson Raceway
Dragway 42

All 3 fun tracks in the general area.

Regardless stopping a 130-140's car shoudnt be a problem at any of these tracks.

Cool, good deal. Just would like to know before hand whether im gonna have to use the chute or not. lol

Some tracks have about 3/8 mile braking distance and thats cutting it close. Especially if high 140's or low 150 traps are done.
