Odometer stopped working today
Sigh It's stuck at 159999. Trip meter doesn't work either. What could the problem be? Car is a 1998 200SX SE-R. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The same thing happened on my 1998 200sx, what i did was push the trip meter reset rod a couple of times and a bit aggressively while driving which made the odometer start reading normal. I was stuck at 269999.

Guess i'll try that out. Also I think i'm going to take the cluster out and look it over. I read some folks who have Sentra's and Altima's had the same problem. They fixed their clusters by giving it a few smacks and shakes.

That does work. Everything on the cluster works, except for the odometer and trip meter.

Check if the plug to speed sensor is on tightly.

That's on top of the transmission, right?

Could just be the cluster... The odo went out on mine a few years back too. Sensor was fine, cluster replacement fixed it.

I too think it's the cluster. If it was the sensor wouldn't everything stop working? Driving me nuts this thing not working. How much do used clusters go for?
