I wouldn't put it past anyone to pay 5~5.5K for that car. It's really clean. Remember, he is likely trying to recoup some of his losses from bodywork to repair the damage from the rear-end collision.

I agree. Yea, nobody is going to pay 7k for it, but keep in mind, not everyone in the used car market spends the day trolling forums and offering people what they have in their wallets. I know when the time comes to sell my se-r, it's going on craigslist because all I'll get here is low offers and GLWS bumps.

I think eventually people here will realize that these cars aren't exactly collector's items, but there will always be a cult following. Will they ever be as popular as old school hot rods? Hell no. But that's not why we all enjoy them anyway. One man's junk is another man's treasure, right?

Sad thing is im majorly into b14's like i am my datsuns, i love them more than b13's, but id never pay over 4k for one no matter how stock, how perfect, or what is done to it ever.

How do you figure he is trying to recoup losses? He probably got a check for around $4k for the car from insurance, probably bought it back for about $500. I bet he was able to get it fixed up for under $3500.

He should be asking $3500-$3800 IMO but I (and most people) would never pay that for an automatic 200sx with a salvage title. Where is the value in the car? It's slow (automatic), not fun (automatic), doesn't get great mileage, has a salvage title, and hardly anyone wants a 200sx anyways.

Only a fool would pay over ~$3300 IMO and even that is pushing it. I would pay $2000 for it MAYBE. It has some value as a reliable commuter with decent gas mileage but that's it IMO.

Very true there burton, not many are into b14's, especially a auto as it is, a dealer woudlnt give him more than 1k in trade in on that, probally less with salvaged title. Hes goign to sit on that for a long time, id love to look at it just to see/ what bull shit comes out of his mouth and show up in my se-r before i tore her apart.

BEFORE you tore her apart...that's the thing. Yours would have been more worth a 7K asking price than his...however, he is obviously not a forum member nor is he into the modified car game. This is a guy expecting a high schooler's Father to come along looking for his kid's first car and is searching for something good on gas, reliable, and mechanically sound. This car is not meant to be modified, swapped, abused, anything more than a DD for spmeone who just got their license. It might as well be a 1.6. I feel bad in advance for the seller as he gets lowballed and torn a new one by people who know what he has when he clearly doesn't.

It is sorta rare considering the fact that it's platinum gold metallic, but the automatic status lowers the price drastically. But then again, I agree with the below:

The fact that this guy doesn't understand what he has, easily explains his price. I honestly feel bad for him as well. He's gonna get murdered by guys that know what he has.

4k is a fair price. You know, half.
