Yes, I'm a noob, with a noob question
I just bought a '96 SE-R yesterday, and it runs great, but the a/c compressor is groaning like crazy, and I have a very noob question: since I don't ever use a/c anyway, can I just use a smaller belt and bypass the a/c compressor altogether? When you're done laughing, please let me know if this is possible.

Yes, get the belt for any FWD SR20 car with no A/C. Works like a charm. Don't worry when the belt has 4 ribs, instead of 6.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. This won't affect the engine in any way, right?

Okay, sounds good. Thanks again for the quick reply....you just saved me a bunch. My car has 211k on it but you wouldn't know it by driving it. This thing runs great. The body, on the other hand, has seen better days (rust on the rear wheel wells and inside the door frames). I bought it hoping to get a year out of it because it has a fresh PA state inspection.

One more quick question - what belt do I ask for to bypass the a/c compressor?

Just got back from the parts store with a belt that fits a 92 Nissan 2.0 without a/c. Can't wait to get that annoying groan out from under the hood.
