jgy 6 puck or tranny problem
It seems my buddy in his 200sx has a problem with his tranny. he swapped the tranny with one from jgy(because it blew up pretty much) and reused the clutch he was useing for the past six months(was fine with the old tranny). the cluch is a 6 puck sprung. but heres the corker... theres a wineing(metal on metal) sound when you let out on the clutch peddle. we already replaced the t.o.b. with another so thats not the problem. i looked at the disk and the springs look o.k. and so does the pressure plate. ive research jgy clutchs in the past and heard storys of them shipping the wrong pressure plates, but the thing is his clutch assembly worked fine on the old tranny. im at a miss with this problem so any help would be great.

p.s. not sure if this helps but i noticed the shaft nose on the new tranny is tapperd vs. the old one which more of a squared end.

if there is no change other than the trans and it happens when letting out the clutch and there a whine or grinding type sound then its most likely the trans, being when you let the clutch out even stationary the gearset in the tranny begins to spin. You will notice most of our trannies will make some noise in this situation, its a nissan thing but excessive is bad and a sign of extreem wear on the bearings inside or gears or both. see if you can pinpoint it by listening to it and see if you hear it more at the gearset or in the bellhousing. simple easy test. good luck
