Trunk is a hater...
So since I've had the car, the trunk has always been hard to shut.. It would just bounce back up until I slammed it... Today, driving home, it popped open. I pulled over, got out, and had to slam it ~8 times before it shut. I assumed it was the catch loop at the bottom (The flat piece connected to the car, not the trunk, on the bottom, that the trunk latches itself to) so I loosened the bolts, adjusted it, and fail, same issue. I then lubed all of the releases (one on the trunk, and one below the catch loop. Closed the trunk, it shut perfectly! Of course, more issues... Now the release handle wouldn't open it (and of course my lock cylinder is garbage as well) So I lay down the back seat, crawl through, and use the safety release at the bottom (the one below the catch loop) and it opens...
My issue is not the line from lever to release, 100% sure as it was working to pop the trunk before i lubed the release... I know this is a vague picture I'm speaking, but any ideas???

There is a little latch you push up that is behind the lock cylinder on inside of trunk. You probably made it go down while you were slamming it shut.

Negative. I've made sure everything is in their correct positions... Like I said, the trunk shuts great now, but the only way I can open it now is by crawling into the trunk from the back seat, and pushing the little lever located inside a hole on the bottom (Look at the bottom catch loop, on the inner wall there are two bolts holding it in place, and just below it is a hole with a small lever. That is the lever I can push from inside the trunk to pop the trunk open.

I know but that latch may be in wrong position and that is what makes you able to use lever. I have no I idea then lol. Highly doubt cable is off, when you pull lever is there resistance?

Yes, I can hear the cable moving in the trunk, it's just not releasing it after I lubed everything... I adjusted the catch loop (idk if I'm even using the correct word, but I assume you understand what I'm talking about), it still wouldn't shut... i lubed up the bottom release area and moved the release lever up and down a few times to get it nice and greased throughout, and viola! Trunk shut perfectly with no effort. Now it just wont open back up via the lever, only using the release lever inside the trunk :x

I guess this situation is better than the "Trunk flew open while driving on the highway" situation... But it's a big PITA at the same time.
