Thread: Din setup ideas

I have my gauges pillar mounted. Kinda getting sick of it feels like i get the wrong attention with it. Ive seen people mount them in the middle console under or above the radio, as some of us B14 guys know its not quite as easy as a B13. Theres nothing to screw into to hold the gauge din panel in place on a B14 but i have seen it done before. Any help guys?

I had done it....but didnt like it. Just out of your eye gaze. But what i did was the stock lil kubby box that was there. I cut the backing off of it and left 2 screw holes in it. I then measured...and then cut out sections where the gauges would go so theyd fit. I then took a peice of black metal...like pictured above...cut it down. then fitted it over the lil kubby front. Secured it with epoxy glue. I then put the gauges in. Wired them. Screwed them into the 2 scew holes, put the dash cover back on and valha..it looked good. But i just didnt like how they were out of line of sight so i put a pillar pod in. But it works very well doing it that way, u dont have to get any brackets. U just use whats there...a lil modification.. and it fits in flush and level..

its what i was planning to do. go for it!!

lol i might be able to find some. It is a pain in the ass..but it fits the best. I took it out like 2 days after i put it in cuz it annoyed me having it there.

Yeah your idea seems best. I tried to take the cubby box out and I use some sort of glue to hold the din panel in place. but it wasn't working the least bit. When I did it I put the radio down like shown in the picture. I would love to see some pics if you got them. Thanks!

Try jb weld to hold the din on the cubby. but before u put it on, cut out enough for your gauges on the cubby...otherwise they wont fit correctley. I learned that the hard way..>.< . But i used the liquid jb weld, since it holds both plastic and metal not the stick, but the dual liquids...

I actually made a bracket for mine out of sheet metal, and powdercoated it. It's a rough first design that I think I'm going to improve on, and I accidentally bent it and took off some of the coating. Here's a pic:
