black canister?

what is the black canister on the driver side fenderwall. it has 3 hoses, and i have two that are not connected. just wondering what it is for?

Emmissions wise, recovers fuel vapors and filters it with activated carbon and returns to the fuel tank.

Part correct ... yea, stores the gat tank vapors in the carbon, then when your driving the engine sucks them out under certan conditions ...

So then technically that should kinda improve the MPG's right? Someone mentioned that out of all SR's they had the 98/99 ones had the best MPG's...

I have heard of people taking this out and using some sort of 1 way valve. Is that a good idea or is it best to leave it in there?

my 99 has some huge ass thing in the back that is not on the 95 i know that. guessing the same thing but its directly off the gas tank

Yeah. It's the same thing. They moved it to the back for the 98 and 99 cars for reasons I can't recall at the moment.
