Car wont start..HELP!!! Please
Automatic 200sx Se-R

I have a problem.

1) Its 16 degrees outside, it feels like -2. Im in New York

2) I went to start my car this morning and the key would not even turn to how cold it was

3) Then I started it and there was no heat and the wipers were not working

4) Drove it down the block and put in park. There was loud shaking noise, while it was in park

5) Drove it to the nxt exit and stopped and turned it off.

6) Tried to turn it on...NOTHING!!

It clicks. I have my headlamps, foglights and high beams are working.

My heat is now working and so are my wipers...but no start. nuttin!!

My friend came by and tried to jump start it and still nothing,

Is there anyone who has an idea of what is going on?

HELP!!! Please

single click or multiple fast clicks?

single click then probably starter. Multiple clicks it's your battery but it should have worked when you jumped it.

Another possability is alternator. It might not be making enough juice. Again though I would assume with a jump the car would start.

Did you by anychance have straight water in your car and not a 50/50 mix?

First thing to check (easiest, cheapest and very common problem) is the battery terminal connections. Are they clean and tight? Next you should check your engine block to chassis ground(s). These should be in good condition. If not, replace. It's not uncommon for them to corrode and fall apart.

This is the most common reason for failure to start on our cars and is commonly misdiagnosed as a bad starter. If your lights work fine and a jump start didn't even work, this is probably your problem.

Best way to check if your engine block to chassis ground is bad is to take jumper cables and connect the engine block to the chassis with it. Then try to start the car. If it works, you have a grounding issue.
