my impression of a "bent beam"
WOW! what a difference. you want to negate 90% of the under steering pig feeling of a B14? do it!
now i actually have some control of oversteer/understeer with the corner entrance speed, throttle and steering wheel. with ambient temp tires i had the rear end coming around. what a feeling. who says you can't drift a fwd??
old setup: unbent rear beam, motivational coilovers w/275f/200r spring rates, stock fr sway bar/susp tech rear sway bar, 195-55-14 kumho victoracers, ~-2.0* fr camber. crappie courtesy nissan fr and rr stb's
the present setup: bent rear beam,Tein SS coilovers, stock fr/no rr sway bar, 205-50-15 falken azeni's, ~-1.1* fr camber, cusco fr/bolt-in-bars rr stb's.
i never even checked/adjusted tire pressures or damping settings. was just here to have fun (not set any records or impress anyone). i'd also like to give the to falken. these street legal tires were amazing on track. i beat the holy crap outta them and they're stick was equal or better than the slightly smaller track only victoracers. at a lot less $$. looks like they'll last much longer also (tread is like 5 times deeper to start with)
i think with more front camber and playing with air pressures, this setup could have a very balanced feel. i look forward to experimenting
as always, these are my opinions and i'm sure you have yours.

All the tail happy driving was fun for me for about 2 years (B13). Now I'm happier without tons of lift throttle oversteer. Makes me much more confident. Good move on the beam bending and I'm glad you're enjoying the flexibility it offers. =]

ya Ben, i was kind of expecting it, especially on cold tires. but brake hard in a straight line before cranking the wheel, and all is good, particularly mid corner after the car has taken a set. woohoo!

Darin @ Westend Alignment in Gardena, Ca. did mine. i figured since i was driving from Seattle area to Vegas i'd detour to L.A. to get something done i've wanted to do for many yrs.

Perhaps we should try to have the main group from this forum not the other. Maybe we will get a more serious response. Who knows. This forum seems to be alive still were as the old one seems kind of dead.

An organized group has tried to form before, and we definitely have enough people in the area, but it's just a matter of those who actually need it done. I'll keep trying, but if worst comes to worst is it possible to ship an entire rear axle to you? Or is it just something that has to be done on the car itself?

How much does he charge? I want to do this to my 98, can you just show up out of the blue and he'll do it for you?
