bottoming out???
well im trying to develop an idea of how to stop my car from bottoming out.. i have gabriel lowering springs and kyb agx adjustable shocks on my b14. i cut a few coils off of the lowering springs so the car would sit as low as i wanted it to. my objective is to have a car that rides low but also rides well. the suspension does mostly what i want it to its stiff so i know the full stiffness on the shock is working and i know the springs arent screwed cuz it doesnt bounce at all. corners like a beast and takes speed bumps like nothing. the only problem is when i hit any halfway harsh bump the car goes BOOOOM like if the damn thing was being dropped out of the sky.. and if i were to hit a decent size dip or pothole o lord it sounds and feels like the shocks are gonna come through the engine bay. obviously the ride height of the car is causing the shocks which are stock height to bottom out violently but could it be a way to stiffen up the suspension more in order to prevent this. i was thinkin new lower control arms n maybe upper 2 and a whole new bushing kit since these are the original bushings on the car since 97. also would a traction bar tighten up the front end also??? just some ideas of mine so anyone with some sr20 knowledge please help me i cant ride like this im about to sell dis ish if i cant fix it.

i had some on but it made the front of the car even higher so i tried cutting them which still seemed high so i just took em off. but now that u say that i think i may have to put them back on. i think that bushing kit is in order tho...

Read ShawnB's great suspension thread. I've never got to say this before. With your setup I doubt it will ever be good, just less bad. If you want it low and not to bottom out, buy some GC coilover sleeves and some tein pillowball rear mounts and front camber plates. That's about $650 and you can reuse your AGX's and lower the car about 2-2.5" from stock without compromising handling. Also some progressive bump stops like the Koni's or from G-Spec.

Your springs are way to soft for your car.. You need to upgrade to a better spring and or coil over setup to avoid your car falling apart and having a bad back.,

Keep cutting the springs and you will be on bump stops so you can not bottom out any more.

Honestly, do what Conwrath said and educate yourself a little. If you want the car to perform lowered you need to buy some parts.
Start looking at GC camber plates, GC coilovers, and bushings will help.
